To avoid sliding of the yarn and to obtain a smooth operation of the machine, it is important that the size and number of grooves in the capstans match the desired finished product.

In general, the less grooves the higher the risk of the yarn/product sliding. For thin products, choose a capstan with more grooves. For PP-tape and natural fibers choose less grooves.
